People - Issue 19

It all started in 1995 when I got my first bicycle. Gradually I began to learn some tricks and this became a daily addiction. In 2000 I attended my first show where I got paid and then I started to think about it professionally. I “lowered” my head down and started doing four to six hours workouts per day. In 2003 I participated in my first international contest in Portugal, where from the 72 entries I finished 9th in the master category. When I came back to my country, I had great motivation and thus gradually my personal development path in BMX started to follow. Many shows, and many contests in Greece and in other European countries followed, and generally the whole package was like living a dream. Even today I keep this line. Besides BMX I now pay grat attention in my day job, where we manufacture electronic metal detection machines.

Tattoo is an important part of my life. In 2008, I had my first tattoo done by Thomas Gramm from Nico Tattoo because I felt a lot of familliarity and because for me Thomas is one of the best in Japanese in Greece and beyond... A signature tattoo with an original BMX trick of mine followed, done by Dovas (Tattooligans), a tattooist who is a fan of BMX. Then I met Petros Karagiannis (SkinWorks Tattoo) and got some of my favorite ink from him. Last but not least comes Nikos Katsoulis who is actulally my “top” aritst. He tattooed a dragon across my back, and the only thing that spoils it is that I can see it only in the mirror...haha. Nikos is 101% professional and an amazing character with very spontaneous humour. Somewhat over a five full-day appointments, my backpiece was finished; it starts from the very top to just below... As I read somewhere and here I share it, tattoo is a personal jewelry, a dream expression, a desire or a memory. In my opinion, someone who will get into the process of having a tattoo done, should have searched well in his mind, so that saturation would be never reached, and that he will still like it on a daily basis!
