Marianna Giannakopoulou

People - Issue 16

My name is Marianna Giannakopoulou, I'm twenty-six years old and I have studied interior design. I admit that I did not see much "light" in this direction, although I like it as a job. However it has sometimes helped me, even now... I have always been attracted to design and I love whatever has to do with art. Leaving interior design behind, I slipped deep enough into fashion. I graduated from Freddy Kalobratsos’ Make Up School and this is where everything that I am really passionate about and that makes me happy starts. I have worked with magazines, agencies, catwalks, a bit of TV, and many photographers and I have done a good job as a make up artist. At the same time, my big love for rock and metal music, led me to start working at my favorite "Rock House" café bar, where we are right now. Beyond being my job, I love this place because it's nice to be in a room with people who support you at everything you do and love, that you have chemistry and feel the others to be your family, something that enforces you to go ahead, give and thank, have fun making others happy, with a smile and good mood. All these are really important for my life, plus the all day good music and all those gigs. Otherwise I feel like ''drowning''. I have also learned much about beers, which I love.

It was about four years ago when tattoos came into my life. I knew from the beginning that I wanted to have many tattoos, especially large pieces. I have works from three tattoo artists which I'm proud of and which I thank. My sleeve, neck and my achilles tendon pieces are made by Tomas from Inksane Tattoo. My left hand and back is by Kostas from Ritual Tattoo. Finally, the piece on my thigh is made by Panos Georgoulias from Polis Decay. I am very proud of this tattoo as I consider it a work of art, and it was also awarded at the 1st Thessalonink - 1st Thessaloniki Tattoo Convention as "Best Colour".

I love my tattoos and I also love when people ask and stare, as well as the fact that I can help my loved ones and friends to have great pieces on them by notable artists. Personally I think that a tattoo can take off things you have in your head. I like'' dark '' pieces mostly and they mean to me more than what they just seem to be. It is important to know how to support the tattoos you have on you.
I would like to thank the wonderful Ino, because finally after a long time, we have managed to do this photoshoot, as it is something we wanted for months... Last but not least I want to thank the two bosses, Dimitris Mparmpoutis and Panos Mitrakos, because nothing from all this would have happened they weren’t around. Dimitris is behind everything: the tattoos, the shop, the music, the bands, people, the communication, the culture as well as the mentality. He is responsible for everything that I have in my life now and have made me a better person for me and for those around me. He is also responsible for all the above text that I wrote with so much love. I have been “running” and will continue to run for him and for the whole team that works in the place that you see and where we are now realizing this photoshoot! Thank you all!
