HeartbeatInk began its career in May 2013, launching HearbeatInk Tattoo Magazine, the first ever Greek online magazine dedicated to tattoo. Starting with its quality and specialized themes, together with its free and bilingual version (Greek-English), heartbeatink.gr soon established its reputation, set itself apart from the “know” formulas, and was loved and has a dedicated, fanatic audience in Greece as well as abroad. It soon succeeded in gaining the recognition and respect of important people and renowned artists of the international tattoo community, while establishing its position within the Greek tattoo scene. Since the beginning of its existence, heartbeatInk.gr has managed to capture the art of tattooing with its own unique and artistic approach as well as to depict and present the Greek tattoo community. Furthermore, it managed to become a part of the international tattoo scene with its consistently quality work and course and by meeting and securing exclusive interviews from world class, pioneers tattoo artists of international fame like Ed Hardy, Filip Leu, Paul Booth, Alex Binnie, Tin Tin, Jondix, Alex Reinke, Carlos Torres, Nikko Hurtado, Jess Yen, Mikaël De Poissy, Tas Danazoglou and more, who talked to a Greek medium for the very first time.
HeartbeatInk aims to promote quality tattooing, its art and culture as a whole, and to explain to a wider audience that doesn’t have a clue or is misinformed about what tattoo is, its roots and applications, its simultaneous co-existence with humans from antiquity until today, as well as what makes a tattoo good or not good.
One of HearbeatInk’s priorities is art and its communication to the audience, a fact that resulted in a photography-artistic exhibition called ‘Stigmata’ by the photographer and HeartbeatInk founder Ino Mei in the multi-purpose space ‘Fouar’, in 2014. The public’s attendance and interest was extremely high, something that is considered a definite success, given the fact that the majority of the visitors had no connection or contact with tattooing.
In spring 2015, the HeartbeatInk team launched Hearbeatink Apparel, wishing to communicate its vision and aesthetics through other forms. Hearbeatink Apparel is a brand dedicated to tattooing with an emphasis on handmade and Made in Greece. Our next target was publications, resulting in the launching of our authentically Pin-Up calendar for 2016, whose production has been entirely made in Greece.
In 2016 we opened HeartbeatInk Headquarters, a spacious multispace located in central Athens that hosts our offices, showroom, photographic studio and art space.
In October 2016 we curated and hosted with great success at the art gallery of HeartbeatInk Headquarters the art show “Día de los Muertos”, featuring artworks from 66 different tattoo artists from allover Greece. Our exhibition is the first art show ever realised in Greece that only tattoo artists participated, which is a matter of high importance for the tattoo community as well as for the art scene of the country.
The success of HeartbeatInk Apparel, inspired and driven us creatively even further, and resulted to our swim & resort wear etiquette "Ino Mei", which we officially launched the summer of 2017.
Every year HeartbeatInk collaborates with certain and highly important European tattoo conventions, such as Frankfurt's, Barcelona's, Florence's, Limassol's, Rennes' and others.
