On Saturday, October the 29th, the opening of the first art show curated by HeartbeatInk took place. The exhibition will be hosted at the gallery of HeartbeatInk Headquarters until the Saturday November 19th. 66 tattoo artists from all over Greece are participating, from whom we asked to create an painting, a drawing or a mixed media piece, inspired by the "waking of the dead". “Día de los Muertos” exhibition is the first art show in Greece that all the participants are tattoo artists.
“Día de los Muertos” is the biggest Mexican fest that started to be celebrated by the Aztecs about 3.500 ago. According to the faith and traditions, during “Día de los Muertos” - October 31d, November 1st & 2nd - the dead return to the earth in order to celebrate with their beloved ones.
We chose “Día de los Muertos” because of its immense influence in the culture and art of the tattoo with its themes, semiology and bright colours, as well as its meaning as an ancient tradition.
The opening of the art show was a big success and the turnout was great. An important part of the Greek tattoo community from Athens as well from allover Greece, and many art lovers visited the opening. Thank you all for the love.
