People - Issue 6

I had my first tattoo when I was eighteen, though I was in love with them and wanted one since I was thirteen. My first “meeting” with the needles and the world of ink happened to be in my small city in Italy where I used to live before moving to London. I still remember my first appointment with Stilian Smokov like it happened yesterday! Since then every time I'm about to get some more ink I always feel as if it is the first time... As I was pretty new to the world of tattoos and didn't know much about it, my first choice was to go for my star sign, pretty common subject I know! But it is still very special to me. Then I developed a morbid obsession for Traditional Japanese tattoos. After moving to London I've carried on getting more and more ink when I met Alex Reinke from Horiyoshi III family. I have to say that I've been very lucky meeting these two extraordinary men and artists in my life. They both changed my life. If you ask me “why japanese style”, I can't really say why, it's more like a feeling, I just find it perfect to express my beliefs and personality... Plus it is very harmonious and the fact that it is designed around your body makes it so connected to yourself that it instantly becomes part of your soul... Not just your look. Every time that I look at myself in the mirror I never get tired or have regrets, because I've got exactly what I wanted, the way I wanted it... It feels like I have had them since I was born... When people ask me why I cover my body, the only answer I can give is... why not! It is a personal feeling and it's really hard to explain to someone else...
