People - Issue 15

The idea of me getting tattooed was a result of watching for years band members of the metal music scene. When I was fifteen a brought a solemn statement to my mother asking her to allow me to have my first tattoo done, but fortunately she didn’t agree with the idea. Finally, when I became eighteen I had  the cover of an album of Mötley Crüe done. I didn’t like so much the design, but all the things that both the band and the album meant to me.

Now I see tattoos like works of art, which express something personal for me. All of them have to do with unpleasant and pleasant experiences that I have chosen to pick out from my memory and "keep" them on me. From the beginning until today Dimitris (De Loop) has been helping me artistically depict these experiences with his creative imagination and ability.

I always enjoyed being different and this extends from the music I like to my personal appearance, something that is rather difficult to support in “closed” society such as Ioannina city. Most of the time the world is being nosy and this is really annoying. However, in my job fortunately I don’t face such problems and this gives me the opportunity to make tattoos in the most visible parts of my body. Nevertheless, I enjoy my diversity because of this difficulty, because this is essentially the meaning of tattoos to begin with, something that has been lost due to the wide acceptance and the worldwide "trend" that tattoo is facing nowadays.
