Kostas Kordas

People - Issue 10

I can remember myself admiring the tattoo art since a really young age; when it wasn't yet widely known in Greece. When I was gazing at a tattoo, I was focusing on it and I was looking forward to the moment that I would get my own! In 2001 a friend of mine was the reason I went to Tolle' (Eightball Tattoo), where I had the Chinese ideograms done on my right arm. After my first tattoo was done, I felt in love with this art and I decided to "dress " my body with tattoos. My next stop was Dermagrafics Tattoo, where I started the Maori sleeve on my right arm. At the same time, my acquaintance with Lonis (Lonis Tattoo studio) resulted to a design on my right leg. When my Maori piece was completed at Dermagrafics, I learned about Yannis Mellos and Legend Tattoo. Yannis earned my trust even from our first conversation. So he started making the cards on my nape. I was impressed by the professionalism and the way that he supports the art. I appreciate him and respect him as a person and as a tattoo artist and in my opinion he is one of the best artists of the our scene. My next step was the Old School sleeve on my left arm and, after months of work, the realistic design on my back which is based on a creation by Jarling Uwe. And we go on... In my opinion, tattoo is not a fashion, it's art, concept and philosophy.
