"My tattoos are like a "second skin" to me. A skin which emphasis who I am. Each tattoo represents an interest, a part of my personality or simply a journey of my life".
Name: Kassandra Powell
Profession: Director / Videographer.
Residence: London.
When I was fifteen my dad and I went on holiday to Bangkok Thailand where he took me to get my first tattoo in a weird looking area full of hippies and trannies. It was a super hot humid day and at the time the sound of the tattoo motors made me wanna faint. However, it ended up being the best experience of my life. After that I decided that when I was old enough I would carry on getting more tattoos and so I did when I moved back to Athens from Dubai at the age of nineteen.
I then started getting my sleeve done which is inspired by my two favourite pop art artists; Andy Warhol and Lichtenstein. I started getting tattooed by Klodian Luca and continued with different upcoming artists all over Athens. When I was twenty-one I begun working at Berlin tattoo studio where I got some old school tattoos done such as my sugar skull on my thigh and others on my legs.
I truly believe that old school tattoos have a simple beauty about them that make me crave them even more.
My newest tattoo was done recently in Athens at True Love Tattoo Studio by Knk, who redesigned for me a Mexican Mother Mary aka “Our lady of Guadeloupe” illustration in a beautiful old school style.
Generally I don't try to analyze the meaning of tattoos too much, I just do what feels right to me at the time.
HeartbeatInk Tattoo Magazine would like kindly to thank Andaman thai restaurant (Alopis 65 Kato Petralona) for the hospitality and Pavlos and Romanos for the realisation of the photoshoot.
